Micky Ward & Dick Eklund Signed Boxing Cornerman Jacket
Micky Ward captured both the WBU Intercontinental Light Welterweight title and the WBU Light Welterweight title. Micky is regarded as a working class hero, a blue-collar athlete who has overcome many difficulties in life and prevailed through determination and hard work. Ward was known for his devastating left hook to the body and his ability to withstand punishment while waiting to land his trademark shot in the late rounds with a single shot to the body. Ward gained widespread fame in his May 18, 2002 fight with Arturo Gatti, broadcast live on HBO. Ward-Gatti I was hailed as the "Fight of the Century".
Dick Eklund known as "Pride of Lowell". Eklund's fighting career spanned 10 years from 1975 to 1985. The motion picture "The Fighter" staring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale is based on the life and times of "Irish" Micky Ward and his brother Dick Eklund. Eklund made a surprise appearance on stage with Christian Bale as he accepted the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Eklund. Bale also won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his performance. This cornerman jacket is not ring used.
